Built around how your trade actually works

A pharmacy and a hardware store both sell over a counter, but almost nothing else about them is the same. We configure pricing rules, stock behaviour and reporting around your industry before you go live.

Why generic business software struggles here

Most business software is sold as though every company works the same way. In practice the differences between trades are the whole problem. A pharmacy must track stock at batch level because expiry is a legal and safety matter. A wholesaler needs three prices for the same item depending on who is buying. A restaurant consumes ingredients rather than selling them. A distributor’s stock spends half its life on a moving vehicle.

When the software cannot express those rules, staff invent workarounds — a second price list in a notebook, a separate expiry register, a spreadsheet for van loading. Each workaround is reasonable on its own, and together they make the reports meaningless. The fix is not more features; it is configuring the system around how the trade actually works before anyone starts using it.

What we configure before you go live

Every implementation starts with how you price, how you stock and how you get paid. That means setting up your pricing tiers and customer-specific rates, deciding whether items need batch, expiry or serial tracking, defining reorder levels for the lines you cannot afford to run out of, and configuring credit limits and payment terms for customers who buy on account.

We then set permissions so each role sees what it should — a cashier, a branch manager and an owner get very different views — and build the reports you will actually open each morning. Only after that do we migrate your data and train your team. The configuration is the part that decides whether the software gets used properly, so it is not something we rush or hand to you as homework.

The seven industries here are the ones we are asked about most, but Distribook runs in hardware stores, electronics and mobile shops, vehicle parts dealers, furniture showrooms, agriculture suppliers, garment businesses, bookshops, hotels and import and export companies. If your business sells, stocks, delivers or employs people, the platform fits — the question is only how it should be configured.

Send us a WhatsApp message describing what you trade in and how you currently record it. We will tell you honestly whether Distribook suits you, and what setting it up would involve.
